Institute Overview

With an upsurge in research funding and consultancy as well as the sizeable postgraduate population, the University established a central body to coordinate all research activities and consultancies to effectively promote, monitor and assess research among the academic staff. The Institute of Research Management & Monitoring (Institut Pengurusan & Pemantauan Penyelidikan, Institute of Research Management & Monitoring ) was formed to manage these challenges, as well as managing the Research & Development funds received by the University of Malaya, stemming from both internal and external fundings.

Institute of Research Management & Monitoring plays a primary role in supporting the research efforts of all the University's faculties and the research centres of UM. The Institute also seeks out commercial applications for the products, services and technology the research produces.

With the foremost experts supporting the various faculties in all aspects of their research, the Institute of Research Management & Monitoring will continue stimulating growth and innovative thinking within the University research community.
